During the development of the Mega Power Exhaust systems for the new generation of high performance ATV's, it became clear that new and more demanding conditions existed for these high horsepower machines than had previously been the case for four-stroke motorcycle applications. The increased heat load from continuous hard off-road riding demanded stronger silencers. The Aluminum bodied, riveted motorcycle design quickly burnt thru and fell apart. As a result of our sponsorship and involvement with several off-road Enduro teams, we developed a stronger ceramic coated steel bodied silencer without rivet joints that can endure the extended high heat load cycles for years without failure and still look good. A strong design was only part of the development. We also emphasized powerful torque and top end power (5-10 hp increase depending on the application) as well as an easy rebuildable modular design that offers several sound levels, spark arrestor's choices and end cap designs.

INDEPENDENTLY TESTED
www.atvtorture.com tested our Renegade Mega Power Pipe and gave it the highest mark for appearance, finish, fit and ease of installation. They found it to be only 2 dB(A) louder than stock at idle with the quiet core installed. They also found a large decrease in outside silencer temperature with the double ceramic coated steel silencer and an 8 % increase in acceleration from 20 to 50 mph. POWER DEVELOPMENT
The Mega Power exhaust has been in development on our dyno, at drag strips, in moto-cross races and grueling Enduro competitions for over five years. As the systems have evolved we have been able to combine strong mid range torque and great top end power with hard hitting low end acceleration. Power increase with Sport models averages 5 hp, while our racing exhausts have produced gains of 8 - 10 hp. The key is the design of a larger 4" silencer body. This allows us to use a larger 2.5" diameter core and still provide more space for packing material to reduce the sound level. The larger 2.5" core also allows for a tapered or stepped mid pipe section that creates a Megaphone action which in turn produces superior midrange torque and top end power compared to competitive motorcycle based designs. With the larger core section also creating more overall volume of the total exhaust, we were rewarded with more bottom end torque and harder acceleration out of corners.

STRONG CERAMIC STEEL DESIGN - BUILT TO SURVIVE
Conventional aluminum bodied silencers blow holes and fall apart at an alarming rate in tough Enduro races. We developed a completely new design to address these problems. The answer was a new steel body utilizing thin wall deep draw high strength steel with totally welded sections and no rivets to break. This design added less than 50 grams compared to the standard aluminum bodies, but solved all the strength problems. Endurance racers have now completed several seasons without failure with the new Mega Power design.

SILVER CERAMIC COATING
We have used silver ceramic coating on our exhaust systems with great success for years. While aluminum and stainless steel dulls up after a short time, the silver ceramic coating stays bright and is easy to service. The second advantage of the ceramic coating is as a heat barrier. We coat the Mega Power silencers both inside and out, in effect sandwiching the steel in ceramic coating. This reduces the heat load entering the steel, and also keeps the outside surfaces cooler, preserving the finish and protecting frame and body parts.

EASY TO SERVICE
There are no rivets to drill or grind out. To repack the silencers with fiber packing just unscrew the rear billet insert by removing six screws. The core can now be removed and repacked with our special heavy duty four-stroke long strand fiber packing material. Due to the larger packing volume, repacking should only be necessary every 1000 - 1500 miles or once a year. To reassemble just install the freshly packed core and reassemble the rear billet insert with the six screws using locktite.

We got a nice surprise when we put the Polaris RZR 1000 on our Dyno. The RZR 1000 was rumored to have 110 HP, but after repeated runs and double checks, it actually showed to produce 117 HP at 8100 RPM. No wonder racers like this buggy. With the somewhat restricted stock muffler, the power falls quickly after 8300 down to 102 HP at 8600 RPM when the RPM limiter kicks in. After rigorous testing with our Maxi-Flow Mega Power muffler we found another 6 HP, with a flat power peak of 123 HP at 8400 RPM, and more than 122 HP all the way down to 7900 RPM. With Power and torque both showing a strong increase through the power band and a stronger output on top end, the RZR not only accelerates stronger, but top ends better and is easier to match with any clutch-set-up. The silencer is of a Straight-Thru core design, but with a thick fiber packing for effective sound absorption. There is also a 4 lb. weight saving over stock, and the Aaen Mega Power silencer is a direct bolt on to the standard mounts.

To take advantage of the extra power at 8400 RPM we recommend the installation of our Aaen Red Primary Clutch Spring.

Awesome throttle response and hard acceleration is available for you and your RZR 900, by simply bolting on our new Megaphone exhaust. This hot pipe utilizes our Megaphone-Extraction Technology that creates a strong bottom end vacuum signal from the megaphone section. Our reverse extraction cup design eliminates a positive return pulse that would otherwise create a bottom end flatspot. Great bottom end torque and throttle response is the consistent reward. This design has proven itself numerous times with our four stroke ATV applications in the Last ten years and turns out to be even more beneficial on the heavier UTV. The new Polaris Sportsman 850 and 550 Silencers from Aaen Performance is of a new "Stealth Design", that looks much like the stock units on the outside. On the inside, the silencer design is of a freer flow design, unlocking 5 HP and 5 lb-ft of torque through the power band.

The exhaust first enters a tuned chamber with a fixed quiet core and then exits though a long perforated "Double Core Design" surrounded by premium packing material. The result is a 6 lb. lighter silencer with close to stock sound level and a strong increase in performance. The Polaris Sportsman 850 and 550 "Stealth Silencer" mounts in the stock location and uses the stock mounts. The silencer is available in Black only, it is a direct bolt on and requires no special tools for installation.

The Aaen "Mega Power" Silencer for the new Polaris Ranger RZR adds 5 HP and 5 more lb/ft of torque to the big 800 twin engine. Lots of bottom end torque has made the "Mega Power" Silencer a popular set-up for pullers with the regular 800 Sportsman ATV. The extra torque and power shoots you out of the corner and accelerates you hard down the straight. The shorter mid pipe also greatly improves top end speed. The mid pipe is finished with "double" silver ceramic coating and the aluminum body is finished off with a red anodized billet end cap. The Polaris RZR "Mega Power" Aaen silencer comes with a removable quiet core which has a closed end that will qualify as a spark arrestor in most places. For areas where a spark arrestor registration number is required, we have available a 4" SUPERTRAPP spark arrestor disc system that mounts directly to the billet end cap.

The extra torque and power of the new "Mega Power" system may increase the rpm's so much that you will hit the REV limiter. To remedy this we recommend using our aggressive clutch kit to keep the rpm's at the torque peak for maximum performance.

Polaris Ranger RZR Head Porting

The Polaris Ranger RZR is a two valve design, and the exhaust valve and its port passage is very restrictive. Porting the head frees up flow, makes the motor breath better and adds horsepower on top end. The Polaris RZR head can also be cut for more compression.

The Polaris RZR camshaft has been in development for several years on the Sportsman 800 ATV model. The result is a camshaft with longer opening duration, but the lift is kept standard to allow installation without the need for piston modifications.

We have tested a number of EFI Tuners and have found the Dobeck unit to be accurate, reliable and easy to adjust. The tuner is necessary when head porting and camshaft installation has brought the power curve beyond the stock program. Four dashpots adjust the low end, top end acceleration pump and transition fuel delivery amounts.

The new Polaris Outlaw with its Independent Rear Suspension exits its exhaust in the center of the frame. We now offer a Polaris Outlaw Mega Power Pipe that is 4 lbs. lighter than stock and offers the same 8 HP increase in acceleration and top end power as our popular Predator pipe. The rebuildable aluminum slip on pipe consists of a tapered megaphone section mid pipe and a 4” aluminum silencer with billet end piece and a quiet core insert. A 4" Supertrapp spark arrestor disc kit is also available.

The stock air box on the Polaris Outlaw has a very restrictive sharp bend on the intake manifold between the box and the carb. To eliminate this problem we offer our unrestricted direct bolt on filter kit. The Polaris Outlaw filter kit includes a 6" filter, Outerwear sock, main jet kit, and an aluminum shield that mounts on the frame and together with the seat forms an enclosed but unrestricted air chamber.

Spark Arrestor Screen on Mega Power Pipe

MODULAR DESIGN:  The rear billet end piece also has six horizontal screw holes that allows a number of modular accessory options. Note that the billet end piece also has a rubber o-ring to prevent oily exhaust residue from spoiling the ceramic finish.

QUIET CORE:  All Mega Power Silencers come with our special developed proprietary "Quiet Core" that lowers the sound level by 4 dB(A) (35%) without undue restriction of top end power. The quiet core does enhance mid range torque and bottom end response, and has become popular among flat-trackers and ice racers. Our Quiet Core has a closed end, and will not allow a rod to be pushed thru it, thus being allowed as a spark arrestor, where this procedure is used by the Forest Service.

SUPERTRAPP DISC SILENCER/SPARK ARRESTOR:  The hole pattern in the billet end piece matches the Supertrapp 4" Disc System. Depending on the number of discs used, (6-12) sound level can be further reduced by 2-4 dB(A). The Supertrapp disc set is also a Forest Service approved spark arrestor kit, and all the appropriate registration numbers are stamped into the endplate. A Supertrappp Disc set can be used together with the Quiet Core.

CONE CAP SCREEN SPARK ARRESTOR:  A screen spark arrestor is also available and is sandwiched between the billet cone cap and the billet end piece. Many cross country racers prefer the screen for its flow characteristics and others like the look off the billet cone cap. Sound reduction with the screen is 1–2 dB(A), and can be used together with the Quiet Core.
